Ben covers shopping-centre car parks at Green Hills, the Maitland Hospital precinct and the newer estates at Chisholm and Ashtonfield, and handles the school-run breakdowns on Newcastle Street and Chisholm Road that stop half of East Maitland at 8.30am.

East Maitland answers

Asked around East Maitland.

Yes. Green Hills, the Maitland Hospital precinct, Metford, Ashtonfield and Chisholm are all core East Maitland territory for us, a few minutes from base. Breakdowns, jump-start-refusing batteries and planned moves are all everyday jobs.

Yes. Car parks are one of the most common East Maitland callouts. The tilt tray needs a straight run behind your car to load it, and Ben will talk you through exactly where to wait when you call.

It depends on where the car is going and what it is. You get a fair, fixed price over the phone before the truck moves. Call or text 0406 976 030 any time. You will be talking to Ben, the operator, not an answering service.

Not necessarily. Call or text Ben with the car park, roughly where the car is and when you will be free, and he will sort out the pickup and key handover with you. Covered parking decks often have height limits a tilt tray cannot clear, so Ben checks access before he heads over. The car can then go to your mechanic or home.

Yes. The newer estates around Chisholm and Thornton North are a few minutes from our base. Some new streets are not on every map app yet, so tap Get my location at the top of this page and text Ben the pin. It saves time hunting for a street name the satnav does not know.

Yes. If your car will not start in a commuter car park at Victoria Street, East Maitland or Metford station, text Ben the station, the row and your rego, and sort out the keys with him. Open-air station car parks are easy for the tray to reach, and the car can go to your mechanic while you get on with your day.

Yes. Dead, damaged or unregistered cars can ride the tray to whichever wrecker or scrap yard you choose, at a fixed price agreed first. Most wreckers will ask for your ID and proof of ownership, so have those ready, and ring the yard to confirm what they will pay before the car leaves your driveway.

Yes. Morpeth, Largs and Hinton are a short run from base along the Hunter and Paterson rivers. Morpeth's heritage streets are narrow and busy with weekend visitors, so Ben may ask exactly where the car is parked and whether there is room behind it to load. If not, the winch can pull it out to a better spot.
